Retirement News from the Fund
Date: April 11
Civil Service pensioners can view and download a leaflet produced by The Civil Service Benevolent Fund which is written with retired Civil Service staff in mind.
Retirement News outlines how the Fund helps pensioners and uses real-life cases to show how they helped someone in need, and to illustrate volunteering skills. There are nearly 600,000 retired civil servants who could be eligible for the Fund’s help and financial support. By working in the Civil Service you are eligible for their aid and this help extends to the families of civil servants.
In 2010 the Fund helped nearly 900 retired civil servants, or the dependants of, with over £845,000 of financial assistance being granted. Many more were provided with advice and referrals to other agencies we work with.
Did you know that you can continue to support the Fund by volunteering your time to help with their work? There are many worthwhile roles that you can give your time to. We can provide support and training from our dedicated support team.
You can also continue to contribute from your pension by completing the donor form on the back page of the leaflet. Please consider contributing either regularly or as a one-off in our 125th anniversary year in 2011.

CSBF Fund Raising Week Results
Date: 16/12/09
The events have been held, a great time had by all, but for our Fund Week team and all those who got involved up and down the country, the hard work has well and truly paid off.
Ministry of Justice and DWP London and North West officially supported the Fund Week campaign. A special week devoted to fundraising and raising awareness of the Civil Service in-house charity, whilst having fun. Staff from these departments and many others got into the spirit of Fund Week by organising raffles, quizzes, cake sales, karaoke nights, dress down days, and salsa evenings, to name but a few.
Clare Bridges, Fundraising Initiatives Manager said, “I am delighted to announce that the total amount generated for Fund Week exceeded expectations at £11,618”. In addition Ministry of Justice and DWP donated 10p per completed staff survey. This has generated a further £5,000 from MOJ. We are still awaiting the final total from DWP but anticipate that this will bring the Fund Week total to approximately £20,000. Clare adds, “We’re so grateful to all those that supported Fund Week, whether they bought a raffle ticket, spent time organising or took part in events. Your support of this campaign will make a massive difference to someone’s life”.
We’re already starting to think about making the 2010 event even bigger and better. If you have a query about our annual fundraising extravaganza, or want to get involved please contact our Fundraising Initiatives Team at fundweek@csbf.org.uk.
